Technology Usage Policies

At SheRide, technology plays a vital role in ensuring safety, transparency and convenience for both our women partners (drivers) and women customers (riders). To maintain a safe and reliable ecosystem, we have outlined the following Technology Usage Policies that govern the use of the SheRide mobile application, website and related digital services.

  • Authorized Use of Platform
    • The SheRide mobile app and website are to be used strictly for booking rides, partner services and related functionalities.
    • Users (both riders and drivers) must not use the platform for any illegal, fraudulent or unauthorized activities, including but not limited to hacking, phishing, spamming or spreading malware.
    • Any attempt to manipulate ride fares, ratings or booking systems will result in suspension and may attract penal consequences under Section 66 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
  • Device and Network Requirements
    • All drivers and customers must ensure that their mobile devices are functioning properly, updated and compatible with the SheRide application.
    • The SheRide app requires GPS, mobile data and call functionalities. Disabling these features may restrict the ability to access services.
    • Use of unauthorized or rooted/jailbroken devices that compromise data security is strictly prohibited.
  • Account Security
    • Users are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials (username, password, OTPs, etc.).
    • Sharing account details with third parties is not allowed. Violations may result in immediate account termination.
    • In case of suspected unauthorized access, users must inform SheRide immediately.
  • Data Usage & Privacy
    • The SheRide platform collects certain personal data (such as location, contact number, ride history and payment details) to provide services.
    • Misuse of any data extracted from the app, including storing, copying or sharing customer/driver information outside the app, is strictly prohibited and may attract penalties under Section 43A and Section 72A of the IT Act, 2000.
    • Users agree to the Privacy Policy of SheRide, which governs data storage, access and sharing practices.
  • Location Tracking
    • GPS tracking is mandatory for all trips to ensure safety and transparency.
    • Drivers must keep their GPS enabled throughout the trip. Disabling GPS or using location-masking apps will be treated as a breach of policy.
  • Communication via Platform
    • All official communication between drivers and customers must take place through the SheRide app (masked numbers, in-app chat, etc.) to ensure privacy.
    • Using personal numbers for unsolicited contact outside the ride is strictly prohibited and may attract penalties under Section 354D of IPC (Stalking).
  • Intellectual Property Rights
    • The SheRide app, website, logos, trademarks and all related digital assets are the intellectual property of SheRide.
    • Unauthorized reproduction, modification, reverse engineering or distribution of the platform is strictly prohibited under the Copyright Act, 1957.
  • Monitoring & Enforcement
    • SheRide reserves the right to monitor app activity to detect fraudulent or malicious behavior.
    • Any violations may result in:
      • Temporary/permanent suspension of account.
      • Reporting to law enforcement authorities.
      • Legal proceedings under the IT Act, IPC and other applicable laws
  • Limitation of Liability
    • SheRide is not responsible for device malfunctions, data charges or third-party service issues (like telecom providers) that may affect app usage.
    • Users are responsible for keeping their devices secure and ensuring a stable internet connection.
  • Consent & Acceptance
    • By downloading, registering, and using the SheRide app/website, users consent to abide by these Technology Usage Policies. Continued usage of the platform constitutes acceptance of these terms.

Partner (Driver) Policies

These policies govern the conduct, responsibilities and obligations of all women partners registered as drivers with SheRide (“the Company”). By enrolling as a SheRide Partner, you agree to abide by these policies, which are legally binding under the applicable laws of India.

  • Eligibility and Onboarding
    • Driver must be at leastb 21 years of age.
    • Valid Driving License (LMV/MCWG as applicable)is mandatory under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
    • Drivers must undergo SheRide’sverification process,including:
      • Police verification (as per IPC Sections 272 & 273 regarding public safety).
      • Submission of Aadhaar, PAN and proof of residence.
    • Partner must complete mandatory training and orientation before starting rides.
  • Code of Conduct
  • All SheRide Partners are expected to:

    • Maintain professional and respectful behavior towards customers and colleagues.
    • Abstain from any form of harassment, abuse or misconduct. (IPC Sections 354, 509 apply for harassment of women).
    • Drive responsibly, obeying all traffic laws under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and IPC Section 279 (rash and negligent driving).
    • Strictly prohibit alcohol, drugs or intoxicants while on duty (IPC Section 185 – MV Act for drunk driving).
    • Ensure vehicle cleanliness, hygiene and roadworthiness.
  • Safety and Security
    • Drivers must follow SheRide’s Safety Protocols, including use of helmet, seat belt and emergency tools provided in the Welcome Kit.
    • Use of SheRide Safety App Features (SOS button, live tracking, emergency helpline) is mandatory during all rides.
    • Partners must not share customer personal information or misuse ride data. (IT Act 2000, Section 43A & 72A – data privacy).
  • Payment and Earnings
    • Drivers will receive earnings based on SheRide’s fare policy, with transparent deductions for platform fees, taxes (TDS/GST) and applicable charges.
    • Payment settlements will be processed directly to the registered bank account.
    • SheRide reserves the right to withhold payments in case of:
      • Pending customer complaints
      • Fraudulent activity (IPC Section 415 – Cheating),
      • Violation of company policies.
  • Flexible Work Hours
    • Partners must log in and log out from the SheRide app as per their convenience.
    • Unauthorized sharing of accounts, vehicles, or login credentials will result in termination (IT Act Section 66C – identity theft).
  • Prohibited Practices
  • Partners shall not:

    • Demand cash payments outside the SheRide App (Consumer Protection Act, 2019).
    • Refuse rides based on destination, caste or religion (Article 15, Constitution of India – prohibition of discrimination).
    • Engage in unlawful acts including theft, fraud or violence (IPC Sections 378, 379, 420, 506).
    • Use the SheRide brand name for unauthorized promotional or personal business purposes.
  • Mandatory Insurance Requirement
    • Every Partner (Driver) must ensure that the vehicle being used on the SheRide platform is covered under a valid Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy as mandated by the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
    • It is compulsory for each Driver to have Personal Accident Insurance as per Section 146 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which covers injury or death arising out of an accident.
    • In addition, the Driver must have Third-Party Liability Insurance to cover damages or injuries caused to third parties during the course of driving.
    • SheRide only facilitates ride bookings between customers and Drivers. It is not responsible for:
      • Repair or replacement of vehicles damaged in accidents.
      • Medical expenses or hospitalization of Drivers, passengers or third parties.
      • Any compensation or settlement related to accidents.
  • Disciplinary Actions
  • SheRide reserves the right to take disciplinary actions in cases of policy violations, including but not limited to:

    • Temporary suspension from the platform.
    • Permanent termination of partnership.
    • Reporting to law enforcement under relevant IPC sections.
  • Grievance Redressal
    • Drivers may report any grievances through the in-app support system or by contacting SheRide’s Grievance Cell.
    • Complaints will be resolved within 15 working days in compliance with the Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules, 2020.
  • Acceptance of Policies
  • By registering as a SheRide Partner, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to comply with all the above policies. Violation of any clause may lead to disciplinary and legal actions under applicable laws of India.

Customer Policies

TAt SheRide, we are committed to creating a safe, secure and women-first transport ecosystem. These policies are legally binding and ensure mutual respect, safety, and transparency between SheRide and our women customers.

  • Eligibility
    • SheRide services are exclusively available to female customers only.
    • Any misuse of the platform by registering under a false identity will lead to immediate suspension and may attract legal action under Section 420 IPC (Cheating and Misrepresentation).
  • Booking and Usage
  • All SheRide Partners are expected to:

    • Rides can be booked only through the official SheRide App/Website.
    • Customers must provide accurate pickup and drop-off details.
    • Sharing app credentials with unauthorized persons is strictly prohibited.
  • Safety and Conduct
    • Customers are expected to treat drivers with dignity and respect at all times.
    • No harassment, verbal abuse, or misconduct will be tolerated. Violations may result in blacklisting and legal action under Section 509 IPC (Insulting Modesty of a Woman).
    • Alcohol, drugs, or any form of intoxication during rides is prohibited.
  • Liability & Insurance
    • Every SheRide vehicle is covered by mandatory vehicle insurance.
    • SheRide is not liable for any personal belongings lost during the ride.
    • In case of an accident, insurance coverage as mandated by the Motor Vehicles Act will apply.
  • Payment & Cancellations
    • All payments must be made through the SheRide App (UPI, Wallet, Cards or Net Banking).
    • Cash transactions outside the platform are strictly prohibited.
    • Cancellations made within 2 minutes of booking are free. Post this period, a nominal cancellation fee will apply.
    • Repeated cancellations without valid reasons may lead to temporary or permanent suspension of the account.
  • Privacy and Data Protection
    • SheRide respects customer privacy and complies with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and IT Rules, 2011.
    • Personal information such as name, phone number and ride history is securely stored and used only for service purposes.
    • Sharing driver details outside the platform is prohibited.
  • Restricted Usage
    • Customers cannot use SheRide for unlawful activities, including but not limited to:
      • Transporting illegal goods (as per NDPS Act, 1985)
      • Misusing the service for stalking, harassment or criminal purposes
      • Transporting more passengers than permitted by law
  • Grievance Redressal
    • Customers can report any concerns directly via the app or by contacting the SheRide 24/7 Helpline.
    • Complaints of harassment or misconduct will be handled under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Section 354 (Outraging Modesty of Women) and other relevant laws.
    • A dedicated Women Safety Officer within SheRide will oversee all complaints for quick resolution.
  • Account Suspension/Termination
    • SheRide reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts in cases of:
      • Misuse of platform
      • Misconduct with drivers
      • Fraudulent payments
      • Repeated policy violations
  • Acceptance of Policies
  • By registering as a SheRide Partner, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to comply with all the above policies. Violation of any clause may lead to disciplinary and legal actions under applicable laws of India.

  • General Information
  • The content, services, and information provided on the SheRide website and mobile application are intended solely for general informational purposes and to facilitate ride-booking services. While SheRide strives to ensure that all information displayed is accurate and up-to-date, SheRide makes no representations, warranties or guarantees, express or implied, regarding the completeness, reliability, accuracy, suitability or availability of the website/app or the information, products, services or related graphics contained therein. Any reliance placed on such information is therefore strictly at the user’s own risk.

  • Service Limitation
  • SheRide acts only as a technology platform to connect women customers with registered women drivers. SheRide is not a transportation company, common carrier or logistics provider under law. The actual contract of service (ride) is between the driver (Partner) and the customer. SheRide shall not be held responsible for:

    • The conduct, actions, or omissions of drivers or customers during or after the ride.
    • Any on-road mishaps, accidents or damages, including bodily injury, death or loss of property.
    • Any delays, cancellations or unavailability of services due to traffic, weather, strikes, natural disasters, government restrictions or other force majeure events.
  • Third-Party Links and Services
  • The SheRide website or application may contain links to third-party websites, applications or advertisements for user convenience. SheRide does not endorse, control or take responsibility for the content, terms of use, privacy practices or accuracy of such third-party resources. Accessing these links is at the user’s sole discretion and risk.

  • No Professional or Legal Advice
  • The information on this website or app does not constitute legal, financial or professional advice. Users are encouraged to seek independent advice before making any decision or taking any action based on information obtained through SheRide.

  • Limitation of Liability
  • To the fullest extent permitted under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 and other applicable laws, SheRide, its founders, employees, representatives or affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive or special damages arising from:

    • Use or inability to use the website/app.
    • Unauthorized access to or misuse of personal data.
    • Acts of negligence, misconduct or unlawful behavior by any driver or customer.
    • Technical errors, server downtime or cyberattacks beyond SheRide’s reasonable control.
  • User Responsibility
  • By using the SheRide platform, users agree to assume full responsibility for their safety, decisions and interactions. Customers are advised to verify vehicle and driver details displayed on the app before boarding and drivers must ensure compliance with traffic laws and licensing requirements at all times.

  • Governing Law
  • This Disclaimer shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to this Disclaimer shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Anti-discrimination Policies

At SheRide, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all women customers and women drivers. Discrimination of any form is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated on our platform.

  • Equal Opportunity & Non-Discrimination
    • SheRide ensures that every woman, regardless of caste, religion, race, ethnicity, color, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, language, economic background or geographical origin, is given equal access to services as per the Constitution of India (Article 15 and Article 21).
    • Drivers (Sheras) are selected based on qualifications, driving competence and background verification — not on personal identity factors.
  • Prohibited Conduct
  • All SheRide Partners are expected to:

    • Any act of verbal, physical or behavioral discrimination toward a SheRide driver or customer is prohibited.
    • Denying a ride request, refusing service or altering service terms on the basis of caste, religion, physical appearance or other identity markers is strictly forbidden.
    • Use of derogatory remarks, slurs or gestures that may be construed as discriminatory under Section 153A IPC (Promoting enmity) & Section 499 IPC (Defamation) may lead to immediate suspension or permanent termination of accounts.
  • Accessibility & Inclusivity
    • SheRide encourages drivers to accommodate women with disabilities or special needs, wherever reasonably possible, without compromising safety.
    • Refusal of service to women customers with disabilities, except in cases of legitimate safety concerns, is considered discriminatory and will be dealt with seriously.
  • Reporting Mechanism
    • Customers or drivers may report discrimination incidents via the SheRide app or customer support.
    • All complaints will be investigated promptly and confidentially.
    • Violations may lead to warnings, account suspension, permanent deactivation or legal action under applicable Indian Penal Code provisions.
  • Accountability & Enforcement
    • SheRide reserves the right to suspend or terminate any driver’s or customer’s account if found guilty of discrimination.
    • In severe cases, SheRide may escalate matters to law enforcement agencies under IPC Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman), and IT Act 2000 (cyber harassment provisions, if online).
  • Commitment to Respect
  • SheRide is a women-first platform built on dignity, respect, and empowerment. Every driver and every customer must adhere to these principles to ensure a safe and inclusive community.

Data Privacy Policies

At SheRide, the privacy of our users (both Customers/Drivers) is of utmost importance. This Data Privacy Policy outlines how SheRide collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal and sensitive information in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 and other applicable laws of India.

  • Collection of Information
  • SheRide may collect the following categories of information:

    • Personal Information: Name, mobile number, email ID, address, age, gender.
    • Sensitive Personal Data: Aadhaar card, driving license, PAN card, vehicle registration details, bank account details and UPI/Payment details.
    • Location Data: Real-time GPS tracking during the ride for safety and service quality.
    • Device Information: Mobile device type, operating system, IP address and app usage logs.
    • Ride Data: Pickup and drop location, time of ride, route details, ride history and fare.
  • Use of Information
  • The information collected is used for the following purposes:

    • To enable booking, tracking and completion of rides.
    • To verify the identity of customers and drivers.
    • To process payments and generate invoices.
    • To ensure safety of customers through live tracking and emergency support.
    • To provide customer support and resolve disputes.
    • To comply with legal obligations under Indian law.
    • To improve services, app functionality and customer experience.
  • Consent
    • By using the SheRide app, you provide explicit consent to the collection, storage and processing of your information.
    • Users may withdraw consent at any time by deleting their account from the app. However, withdrawal will not apply retrospectively to data already processed.
  • Data Sharing and Disclosure
  • SheRide will not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. However, information may be shared under the following circumstances:

    • With law enforcement agencies when required under Section 69 of the IT Act, 2000 or as per directions of a competent authority.
    • With payment gateways and banks to process transactions securely.
    • With insurance providers in case of accidents, claims or disputes.
    • With technology service providers for hosting, analytics and maintenance of the platform.
  • Data Retention
    • Personal and ride data will be stored as long as your account is active.
    • Certain data may be retained for up to 7 years for compliance with taxation, dispute resolution, and legal obligations under the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
  • Security Practices
  • SheRide implements Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures per Rule 8 of IT (SPDI) Rules, 2011. These include:

    • End-to-end encryption of sensitive data.
    • Two-factor authentication for logins.
    • Secure payment gateways (PCI-DSS compliant).
    • Regular vulnerability testing and audits.
    • Restricted internal access to sensitive data.
  • Rights of Users
  • Users have the following rights:

    • Right to access personal data held by SheRide.
    • Right to correct or update inaccurate information.
    • Right to request deletion of data, subject to legal and contractual obligations.
    • Right to restrict certain processing (e.g., marketing communications).
  • Grievance Redressal
  • In compliance with Rule 5(9) of the IT (SPDI) Rules, SheRide has appointed a Grievance Officer:

Payment Policies

These Payment Policies outline the rules, responsibilities and procedures for financial transactions made on the SheRideSheRide platform (Website & Mobile Application). By using SheRide services, all Customers (Riders) and Partners (Drivers) agree to the following payment terms and conditions.

  • Payment Methods
    • All payments for rides booked through SheRide shall be made via:
      • UPI (Unified Payments Interface)
      • Credit/Debit Cards
      • Net Banking
      • Digital Wallets integrated into the SheRide app
    • Cash transactions are strictly prohibited unless expressly allowed under government regulations.
    • SheRide does not store sensitive payment details such as CVV or full card numbers, in compliance with RBI guidelines and PCI-DSS standards.
  • Fare Calculation
    • The fare for each ride will be calculated based on:
      • Base Fare
      • Distance traveled (per km)
      • Time taken (per minute)
      • Surge Pricing (if applicable during peak hours or high demand)
    • All fare details will be displayed in the app before the ride is booked.
  • Payment to Drivers
    • SheRide acts only as a facilitator between the Rider and the Driver.
    • Drivers are entitled to receive payment for rides completed, minus the platform service fee/commission as agreed upon at the time of registration.
    • Payouts to Drivers will be settled:
      • Daily, Weekly or Monthly (as chosen by the Driver during onboarding).
      • Directly into the Driver’s registered bank account.
  • Taxes & Deductions
    • All fares are inclusive of applicable GST as per Indian taxation laws.
    • SheRide may deduct TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) from Driver earnings where applicable under Income Tax Act, 1961.
    • Riders are responsible for bearing any government-imposed surcharges or cess.
    • SheRide reserves the right to withhold payments in case of:
  • Refund & Adjustment Policy
    • Refunds shall only be applicable in the following scenarios:
      • Double/duplicate payment due to technical error.
      • Ride not provided despite payment being deducted.
      • Wrong fare charged due to a system glitch (subject to verification).
    • Refunds will be processed within 7-10 business days to the original payment method.
    • No cash refunds will be provided.
  • Non-Payment & Penalties
    • In case a Rider fails to pay (e.g., declined card, UPI failure), SheRide reserves the right to:
      • Suspend or block the Rider’s account.
      • Initiate recovery proceedings under applicable Indian laws, including Indian Contract Act, 1872.
    • Any fraudulent chargebacks shall be dealt with strictly under Indian Penal Code, Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
  • Dispute Resolution
    • Any dispute regarding fares, deductions or refunds must be reported within 48 hours via the SheRide Help Center.
    • SheRide will mediate disputes between Riders and Drivers but shall not be held liable for settlement amounts beyond facilitation.
  • Limitation of Liability
    • SheRide is not responsible for:
      • Cash payments exchanged outside the app.
      • Incorrect bank details provided by Drivers.
      • Delays in banking channels or UPI settlement failures.
    • Liability of SheRide shall be limited strictly to the amount of the disputed transaction.
